The triumph and adoption of digital cinema based on DV and HD/V cameras has been a runaway success, enabling new levels of creativity and film-style moviemaking with the budget and convenience of digital video. The required on-camera accessories (wireless mics, monitors, etc.) used to create this look has pushed the limits of current support systems, and creates a need for better mounting and handling of multiple on-camera accessories.
The Redrock microPod and microPowerPod are valuable extensions to the Redrock microSupport system that provides centralized management and power for your on-camera accessories. Using the microPod and microPowerPod you get:
- Convenient mounting all on-camera accessories on a single plate, including the on-camera monitor
- Counterbalance for front-heavy camera setups
- A battery mount to provide a single power source for the camera, monitor, and Redrock adapter*
Redrock microPod and microPowerPod Features
The microPod attaches to your existing Redrock rod support system, extending it up to 9” in the rear of your camera setup. The microPod provides mounting holes and brackets for up to 6 separate devices:
- Two (2) standard ¼” mounting holes
- Two (2) standard 3/8” mounting holes
- Mounting bracket for standard v-mount battery (v-mount battery plate included with microPowerPod)
- Accessory bracket for attaching wireless mic receiver (and mounting holes for adding up to two additional accessory brackets)

The microPod includes mounting hole patterns for a standard v-mount battery plate, and Anton Bauer QRC-Gold battery plate (AB part number QRSP200) . The microPowerPod includes a v-mount battery plate.
* Requires appropriate cabling supplied from your battery system. Battery and battery mount not included
** Mounting the microPod requires a Redrock baseplate with extended mounting holes (see illustration), which shipped standard with the Redrock rod support system starting early 2006. If your baseplate was shipped earlier and does not include these mounting holes, you can upgrade by purchasing the “microPod with Plate Upgrade” package
